LOCAL DESIGNER SHOWCASE
ALL THOSE BRIGHT LIGHTS
Light-Up Brooklyn introduces its “Local Designer Showcase” featuring the work of two up-and-coming Brooklyn lighting artists.
After opening its doors on North 11th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn only five months ago, Light Up Brooklyn is set to support the local Art scene by hosting a series of Art Events throughout the year. The first opening will take place Friday, Feb. 19th from 6pm to 10pm. The exhibition will be on display until March 26th, with a closing reception also starting at 6pm.
Besides a great selection of Chandeliers, Lamps and Fans, one feature that sets the store apart is an innovative new shopping formula, enabling their customers to browse their Ecommerce store www.UpscaleLighting.com while in the store on special customer computer kiosks. The web element gives access to more than 150,000 lights from over 100 Manufacturers like Savoy House Lighting, Murray Feiss Lighting and many other designer brands that can illuminate your home or business at any budget.
Whether you need new kitchen lighting to brighten up your workspace, or track lighting to show off a gallery wall; Light Up Brooklyn is where you will find the lights that meet your needs. You can glance at all these terrific items like desk lamps, crystal chandeliers and portable lamps while visiting the Art Opening.
February's event will highlight two, young artists working in the Brooklyn borough. The art designers on Feb 19th will be Jason Krugman (www.jasonkrugman.com) and Patrick Seeley (http://patrickseeleylights.blogspot.com )
The first artist for this particular art opening, Jason Krugman, will be using small electro-mechanical devices assembled into large groups. His work often yields unexpected and exciting results. Krugman's drawings and interactive sculptures have been featured at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The New York Hall of Science and All Points West Music Festival. Recently, McCarren Park in Williamsburg hosted his ambitious light installation called, “ Living Objects “. The exhibit comprised three, immense, light sculptures depicting humans in various angles of repose. It was the park's largest, public, art project in history.
Patrick Seeley, the second artist, graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Fine Arts Painting. But lately his primary focus has been Luminaire Design. Seeley utilizes LEDs and other cutting edge forms of illumination. This artist’s light creations represent a progressive and greener phase of light technology. The Art Opening at Light Up Brooklyn marks the first time his light fixtures will be on display. But Seeley’s paintings have been shown at various galleries throughout New York City.
