Sweet, serene middle-aged cat for adoption — Brooklynian

Sweet, serene middle-aged cat for adoption

My mom died, and I need to find a home for her cat.

Eleanor Roosevelt (who answers to "Rosie") is a healthy 10-year-old neutered female yellow and white striped cat. She is a low-maintenance companion--serene and self-reliant. She's the kind of cat who takes a while to warm up to people but ultimately bonds very strongly with that special someone (she was originally my dad's cat primarily and transferred her affection to mom over time when dad died).

Rosie wouldn't be a good choice for people with small children, as she really likes to be in control of how much she interacts with her humans, but older kids are fine. She gets along well with other cats and the one dog she's met.

She also is accustomed to being left on her own for several days at a time with no problem as long as she's left with a lot of dried food and water.

We're considering taking her to one of the no-kill shelters, but I'm hoping to find her a home myself so I'll know where she ends up. If you would like any more information or a photo or to meet Rosie, please let me know.

Best wishes,
Sara

  • First of all - I'm so sorry to hear about your mother.

Good luck with finding a home for Rosie - I guess you can't take her in. She sounds like a sweetie - I have a 17 year old cat who used to live with another cat until he died - but I feel like she's in her golden years and is fine being alone - so I don't want to bring another cat into the picture.
  • Subject: Sounds like a great cat, any luck?

Maybe post a photo? Is Caseopeole around on the list? :) She might have ideas. The cat sounds wonderful! Eleanor Roosevelt - great name. Sorry also about your mom. That's hard.

(The thing about leaving the cat for a few days with just food and water ... that could be a little iffy beyond two I'd say...)

Any luck? I have 4 cats... couldn't take in another but I'm sure there's someone this cat would be perfect for.
