Where to volunteer with animals?

Hey gang
I'm going through serious pup withdrawl since mine is living at my parents. OK its been 2 years but living in PS and seeing a million dogs a day is NOT helping the situation. I don't have the time to devote to one pup, but would love to volunteer. Is there a place in the Slope I can do this? Looking for dogs, cats, and not afraid of lizards (no snakes!). I looked back a few posts to see if this has been covered and couldn't find it anywhere so help would be mucho appreciated.
Gracias!

  • Sean Casey. I go there all the time. You can socialize cats, walk dogs...they also have birds, lizards, turtles, bunnies and some other animals.

  • Subject: Dog Walking and show....

BARC in Williamsburg used to need dog walkers, most shelters do and BARC is throwing this great event!- http://www.brooklynmuttshow.com
  • The ASPCA on the east side of Manhattan has volunteer dog walkers and they spend a lot of time in Carl Schurtz park

BTW all animals lovers should be daily going to the animal rescue web site and vote for a shelter ( Sean Casey is on the list) the most votes every week wins $1000 which is BIG money for the small shelters NO Btrooklyn shelter has won yet
  • which animal rescue site to vote?
  • New York Cares also has animal-related volunteer opportunities, including dog walking and cat cuddling.

You do have to go through a (short, painless) orientation process, but the bonus is that most projects don't require a long-term commitment.
