Mugging/fight this morning 24th St 6th Ave — Brooklynian

Mugging/fight this morning 24th St 6th Ave

A neighbor sent along the following from Saturday morn, 2/20/10:
I came across the scene of an apparent beating this morning at 9:15 on 24th street between 4th and 5th aves. There was quite a bit of blood as you can see, plus a broken pair of glasses, disparate pocket contents (visine bottle loose change, etc.), and a hat and gloves. A fellow who walked by noted that the trail of blood led into the street, probably into a car.

After the body being dumped last month, this is concerning.
Anyone know anything about this? Since crime is not really an issue in GWH, I am very concerned...

  • From the CCGH newsgroup:
    Snowy greetings,

I asked the Community Board to reach out to the 72nd Pct. in regards to any information on the incident Adam reposted last weekend.

Community Liaison Officer Fran Siclari sent me the following note:

There was a report of an Assault at F/O 280 24th street which occurred at 4am on Sat. 2/20/10. I'm not at liberty to go into too many details because it is an"open case" which means it is under investigation by our Detective Squad. What I can tell you is that a male who resides outside of our pct area was assaulted after leaving a bar. The victim did not identify which bar or where he was prior to incident. (Which could mean he was probably intox at the time.) It was not a Robbery. Injuries were minor. Don't be too concerned with any personal property or blood that nay have been left behind. The officers on the scene I'm sure collected anything that would have been relevant at the time. Anyway, I'll try to let you know if we make an arrest on it.

He said that this is being investigated as a misdemeanor crime. Hopefully we'll have more info soon.

In the meantime, I personally believe the neighborhood is VERY safe, but I'd suggest keeping off the more vacant streets late at night (I'd go so far to say at 4AM after a few drinks, but that's just common sense).

    Stay warm and dry.
