All courses are taught by Brooke Shaffner, who has taught creative writing to teenagers through the Bank Street Writing Workshops, Creative Alternatives of New York, and at Athens Academy. She currently teaches creative writing through The Sackett Street Writers’ Workshops, and has worked in education for a decade—teaching, tutoring, and writing literature and composition curricula for Pittsburgh, Chicago, Lynwood, and Clayton County public high schools. She has tutored students on application essays for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Rice, Notre Dame, Oberlin, Trinity, and the University of Texas, among other schools. She received her MFA in creative writing from Columbia University, has been published in The Hudson Review and the anthology Lost and Found: Stories from New York, and has received numerous awards and fellowships for her writing. Her novel, Fight/Flight, is represented by Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc.

Brooke will co-teach Projections with photographer Amy Williams, whose photography has been exhibited at the Galerie de Multiples in Paris, 440 Gallery in Brooklyn, Sideshow Gallery, the Educational Alliance, Sotheby’s, and Dinaburg Arts; and featured in Frog Magazine. Amy has taught photography courses at the Jewish Community Center, Educational Alliance, the International Center of Photography, and the Camera Club of New York.
