Yes- Michelle is able to prep in the kitchen and is doing short and super yummy menus.

Last night she had the lobster roll (amazing) with sides (cole slaw and potato salad- both fresh and zomg good!) Lamb burgers (I think stuffed with something, but my friend ate his so fast I never found out what)- someone told me it will change the way you think about lamb.

She had clams on the grill- served with melted butter- salty, sweet, and we couldn't get enough.

Last but not least she had boneless short rib brisket sandwiches- they sold out before I had a chance to try it. Heard they were amazing, though)

March 26th is when the kitchen will be officially open- but until then, I'm all about Michelle and her grill. =D> :thumright:

yes the bar is open,nothing makes a 3 dollar beer taste better than a lamb or regular burger off the grill.

Was talking to someone that went to FP on saturday...said the big part of the bar was closed. They asked someone who worked there when it would be open again and apparently they said it could be up to 2 months before everything was squared away.

Does anyone know if this is legit?

Permit/Certificate of Occupancy re-filings do tend to take a really long time, so its not exactly surprising...

This whole debacle reduces FP's standing in my book. Go ahead, open your damn burger joint, but if it's going to cost them three months where they have to close a sizable part of the bar, I think it's stupid. There are already plenty of food options in the neighborhood already on life support.

This is not what happened. The owner of Franklin Park(and Dutch Boy) hired good architects,contractors*not expeditors. Everything was going along seamlessly until like 100's of times before. The NYC Building Dept said " I think we overlooked something..oops" this guy and all his customers and employees are victims of complete Aholes at the city. They didn't understand that he was asking to create a hybrid business that would have @250 people under one roof. Any student at Brooklyn Tech could have reviewed the drawings. The owner was forced to make super hard decisions to make the months and money put into Dutch Boy not a complete bust. The city should have to pay him damages and pay me for creating a monster drunken noise mosh. Anybody that looks at the existing structures can see that it's like a liquor pit surround by residential dwellings. The owner of FP is no evil guy,just a guy providing for his and creating some jobs. The city is evil and the person who originally looked at these plans should be fired by phone and told not to come to work Thursday. Constant over sight and missed details are going to get more people killed , this bldg inspector was probably demoted from the overhead crane division. How many fallen cranes,Deutsche Bank fiascos do people need before they are fed up. When you are walking down the street just remember that kinds of shit that can fall on you and yours was inspected by these asshats

As for food options on life support, it's the same old story: Good food, good price, and people will come. We all know why Chavella's does gangbuster business and Abigails folded...

Walked past DB a few times last night going to and from the laundromat, and while the stop work order was still posted in the window, the gate was up and people were in there putting the place together. Things looked good...I might have to give it a try this weekend.

Went for lunch today. The food was really good. While a bit more than we generally like to spend on burgers/beers/fries ($28 for 2 veggie burgers with cheese, 1 order of fries, and 2 12-oz mugs of beer) it wasn't terribly priced either. Basically it's a couple bucks too high to be a weekly thing like Homage was, but the burger was super super yummy - good black-bean base and the cheese was great.

Nothing on the menu about happy hour prices, and with $4 pints during happy hour at the bar, the $4 smaller-sized mugs don't seem worth it in the restaurant. They said they'd start delivery next week.

I also agree with the price being a little step, but I didn't like homage because I'm a beef eater and something about their patties seemed like they were frozen/pre-packaged. I'll always pay more for a hand formed patty if given a choice. Something about them usually yields a more juicey burger.

I'll try the veggie burger next time I go. I wonder if they make them in house from scratch.

Stopped in on saturday and I was pretty pleased. Not blown away but will definitely go back. Had a beer at the bar afterwards and the bartender said he wasn't sure if the big part of the bar was going to be open that night. Are there still issues there? Has that part of the bar been open?

According to this: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56779 and the signs I saw at the bar on Monday night, it seems that the big bar is open but only sometimes and only through the restaurant. I guess that have to divide the two spaces and that worked better than having the big/small bar together and the restaurant separate. Hopefully these things can be resolved..

Also, I hadn't noticed this before, but TWO DOLLAR pints before 4pm? That's awesome!

The space is now divided to comply with the law. All places of assembly over 100 people needs fire sprinklers and a 36 inch min exit path. The law was changed after a 2003 NH club fire that killed 100 people. If music equipment is used over a certain db the law also requires that the audio is turned off automatically(just like in a theater fire where the house lights go up and the projection is stopped). The new NFPA codes did not fully go into effect until 2005. The NH lawsuit was settled for 176 million dollars. All issues can be resolved by installing sprinklers and common emergency exit lights and evac door exit signs for the common space proposed. The proposed density of the new FP/Dutchboy space was/is @250 people the code compliance for this big a public assembly space is hard if not impossible to do piece meal. The architects and designers need to treat the area as one instead of 3 independent businesses. The area desperately needs news business and jobs it just has to be done within current public safety standards

They essentially are 3 separate businesses with 1 owner. If they were owned by 3 different people, with no door between them, they would have been totally up to code. Yet somehow putting a door between them makes it unsafe? It boggles the mind that regulators would somehow believe that limiting the flow of people between spaces would somehow make it safer in the event of a fire.

I think the doorway becomes an issue when it is a shared, load-bearing wall.
