Pitbull tied up outside Met Food on Vandy

There is a sweet as can be female pitbull tied up outside Met Food for the past 3 hours. She has no tags or id, so I'm assuming that the chances are good that she is abandoned. I went in to every store on the block and no one claimed ownership. I'm unable to keep her, so I was wondering if anyone knew of local rescue groups (Sean Casey is unable to pick her up) and I don't want to contact ACC since they'll probably just put her down.

E-mail me your information: [email protected]. I will be able to e-mail 500+ dog owners, the majority of whom live in the vicinity of downtown Brooklyn.

While FIDO is not a rescue organization, per se, we will do all that we can to help by posting notices for a reasonable length of time.

This afternoon, our friend who is a neighborhood dog walker had one of his charges slip her collar in reaction to something that startled her. She is an ADOLESCENT BRINDLE (BROWN/BLACK STRIPED) PIT BULL NAMED MAGGIE. She is shy but very sweet – not mean or aggressive.

This occurred about 2:30PM near the Lincoln Road side of the park, but she was spotted by a park patron near the Bandshell about a half hour later, and Josephine Pittari thought she might have spotted her near the ballfields a little later after that. Our worry is that she’s a pit without tags and someone will think she’s abandoned.

    same pup perhaps?

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

  • Darn, saw it at 2:30p in front of the Met on Vandy, then read this thread and went back to take a pic to post onlne to help find the owner...but a person had just come and led the dog away (according to 2 guys in a truck parked there).

Was that one of you folks here?

    Hope so.
  • i hope so too! wasnt me...but wish it was!
  • Oh, wow it wasn't me either. I was just literally going to get her and bring her back to my apartment after getting in touch with some great people at a pitbull rescue.
I hope all is ok with her.
  • Stray pits are used often as bait in dog fighting and there are occurrences of that in the general area form past news reports. Hopefully a good person took the dog.
  • Officials have now identified the pit bull as Sarah Palin filming her new reality show. She was able to be identified due to the writing on her paws.
  • Really? I thought it was Ann Coulter going incognita.

The OP said it was a female pit bull.
