South Slope restaurants with vegan options ?

Oh man that is a tough one. Japanese is a good option because there is never hidden meat stock or butter as in many suspect sauces. I like Ten on 15th and 7th. Fez, which is under new management, still does a night mezze and falafel. 5th ave vegetarian is chinese and japanese, but not much ambiance. Watana on 7th and 14th is thai and should have things. The cheap mexican place on 5th and 11th ish could work, and that Italian place across the street has a good spicy tomato sauce pasta. Kid friendly I would just suggest going early. Oh and little buddy's has some vegan desserts. Indian place on 6th and 14th could def work too.

Thanks so much ! I think you are right that asian places are usually the easiest. Thanks for reminding me about Fez because its right near my place and I've been meaning to try it.
We will definitely be dining early, they are not from around here so it is a completely foreign concept to eat out with the kid during the "adult" times. Funny story, when I told them we could bring the kid to Double Windsor before 5 their response was "a little kid in a bar ? who on earth would ever do that ?" -
Not South Slope, but V-Spot on 5th Ave is vegan; 'Snice as mentioned above is great and very kid-friendly. Be careful with Japanese and other asian restaurants, as fish is often present and not mentioned (I know this as a vegetarian). There is often "hidden" fish.

I was going to say v-spot even thought it's further north. Really relaxed and vegan -- but they use "fake meat" products -- last time i went i had the "chicken" parm with pasta which was delicious. May be more kid-friendly then if the kid isn't vegan.

If by cheap Mexican on 5th and 11th Scarlet mean Tacos Nuevo Mexico - I've been told by other, more inquisitive vegetarians that their beans have lard, so be warned. I actually am a convert to Taqueria D.F. for burritos and the like - good fast delivery and they're vegan-friendly enough to offer tofu "sour cream". Haven't eaten in there so I can't vouch for ambiance but iirc it seems decent enough from reading some yelp reviews.
Assuming the bread is vegan, they might enjoy a tofu banh mi from one of the many places that has popped up, just make sure to ask for no mayo/butter. Can get bubble tea with soy milk there, too. -
Also not South Slope, but definitely vegan, and definitely delicious: Dao Palate on Flatbush.
