The Irondale Center, home of the award winning Irondale Ensemble, announces its summer performing arts programs for young people between ages 5 and 15. Irondale will run three fun-filled and affordable programs specially designed to let young people experience acting, improvisation and the creation of original plays in a collaborative and supportive ensemble environment. No previous theater experience is required, just a willingness to learn, and to play. To register please go to www.irondale.org or call 718.488.9233.
Irondale is also offering benefits for parents such as early drop-off and late pick-up options making this one of the most convenient summer programs available.
Registration is currently open and there are some great discounts available as well as need based financial aid possibilities.

All programs will be led and taught by members of the Irondale Ensemble, a highly acclaimed acting company comprised of professional performers and educators. Irondale has established and extensive outreach and educational programs in public schools, jails, special education facilities, shelters, housing facilities and youth centers. They bring 27 years of teaching experience to the summer program and infinite amounts of enthusiasm and encouragement to inspire the next generation of great artists, performers and creators.

All Classes Meet From 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday- Friday, except Story Improv, which meets Tues.- Fri.
Story Improv, July 6-9, $425
(Recommended for Ages 5-8)
Bring stories from your favorite books to life using improvisation! With a different story each day, there’s never a dull moment! Students will learn the basics of improvisation, storytelling , and characterization whilst learning how to embrace literature and allow their imaginations to run wild!
On the Spot: Improvisation, July 12-16, $500
(Recommended for Ages 9-14)
At Irondale, we specialize in improvisation, theater that doesn’t use a script! Improvisation is an exciting, fast paced session that helps students think on their feet, and have a great time. Through this playful form of learning young people build self-confidence, learn to listen and recognize how to interact well with others. Improvisation is also one of the most valuable tools when it comes to developing original theatrical works. Learning to be comfortable with improvising is a great way to enhance imagination, strengthen cognitive thought and it’s also great fun!
Piece Makers, July 19-30, $800
(Recommended for Ages 9-14)
This intensive 2 week program is production driven. Students will develop, construct and present an hour long, original theater piece. The process of creating this unique work will engage imagination and encourage participants to learn about teamwork, problem solving and clear communication. Under the guidance of the Irondale Ensemble the students will carefully explore and craft their piece utilizing exercises and games that harness acting and storytelling skills. For two weeks students will experience the incredible feeling of being part of a working, creative ensemble!

•“Story Improv” & “Improv” Sessions meet from 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday
•“Piecemakers” Sessions run from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday- Friday.
•Food: Children should bring their own lunches. Snacks and sodas will be available for purchase at the theater.
