Man Under the F Train Tonight (Wednesday 4/7)?
Anybody know what happened here? (from Gothamist)
Just in time for the evening commute, word has come in over the newswire that there is a man under the F train at 7th Avenue and 9th Street in Brooklyn. Power had been turned off to remove the man, and as of 5:41 p.m. the aided had been removed. The MTA is reporting a service change and delays in both directions; "F trains are running on the D line from the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station to the West 4th Street-Washington Square Station." We'll update if conditions changed, and if any more word comes through regarding the aided, who has been transported to Kings County Hospital.

I was there on the F around 7:45 with zero difficulty, so must have cleared pretty fast. Hope it wasn't deliberate or successful.

I was on the the train that was evacuated, in the last car. At first, the conductor announced we had stopped for an investigation of a complaint. Then a couple of minutes later he told everyone to walk to the front of the train and exit. It looked like only a couple of cars actually made it to the platform. When we got off, law enforcement clearly was looking for someone and had flashlights on the track. Someone around me said it was a woman, not a man, they were looking for. But who knows. Soon after, NYPD and NYFD flooded the place, and we finally were told to leave. It was rather frightening, and no one bothered to explain to us what was going on. Or offered transfers or advice on when/where to catch a train, for that matter.

My trip home from Times Square was a mild disaster b/c of this, and the rerouting instructions were comically confusing b/c of this. Hope the fella (fellette?) is OK.

Taking the G south from Lorimer/Metropolitan we were told to get out at Bedford/Nostrand and then the train went back to up to Queens. This happened to at least 3 other trains. I ended up taking the bus. This was around 5:30pm

People on the platform said it was a woman. As I was leaving a cop was asking everyone on the platform whether anyone had seen what had happened.

From OTBKB:
"It was a 34-year-old woman who jumped in front of a train at the Seventh Avenue station on Wednesday at 5:30 PM. Hugh Crawford happened to be there and took pictures of the rescue effort.
Thankfully, the woman survived with deep cuts. She was taken to Kings County Hospital in Crown Heights for treatment.
Service was halted for 40 minutes while rescue workers pulled the woman from the tracks."

The Brooklyn Paper has a short item about this (ignore the awful exclamation point in the headline):

Hopefully she'll get help. Thankfully she made it unlike the poor woman who jumped after her gym bag dropped on the tracks and didn't make it.
Howdy, Stranger!
