Does the Community Need Therapy? A Play on April 16th 7-9pm — Brooklynian

Does the Community Need Therapy? A Play on April 16th 7-9pm

The Brooklyn Social Therapy Group is pleased to announce: Does the Community Need Therapy?

This play/community dialogue was created by Jeff Fader and Brooklyn community residents and will be held Friday, April 16, 7:15-9pm at the Brooklyn Social Therapy Group. Located at 106 South Oxford Street (between Fulton and Lafayette).

The Brooklyn Social Therapy Group kicked off the new year with an exciting project – a community-wide creation of a play/community dialogue that explores the question, "Does the Community Need Therapy?”

The project grew out of a year-long conversation with people throughout Brooklyn – including Jeff Fader, a veteran playwright, director and actor – who have told us emphatically that they believe emotional development is vitally important if our communities are to grow and thrive.

When Jeff came to the Social Therapy Group a few months ago with the idea of creating a play that could further this dialogue, we jumped at the chance. Under Jeff’s leadership, we’ve been working with residents from 19 to 73 years of age to create a play (performed conversation) that grapples with some of the very difficult issues our communities face even as it challenges our very understanding of community, therapy, growth and development – not to mention theater!

We hope you will join us for the premiere performance dialogue of “Does the Community Need Therapy?” – the last scene of which is a community meeting everyone attending will help to create.
