I tried the hardware store on 7th Ave, but didn't find anything good. I just want something small and squirrel proof that I can hang from m y fire escape.

  • You might try Leopoldi's on 5th.
  • Have you had bird feeders in the City before? My experience has been the city birds are more used to food they find on the street, such as french fries, and pieces of bread. I think bird seed is pretty foreign to them. Could be wrong, maybe they just didn't like me.
  • I'd try Leopoldi's and/or the Botanic Garden's shop http://bbg.org

I haven't looked, but upscale plant stores like Bloom and Zuzu's Petals also carry the designy feeders.
  • You could try the Pet Food shop on 7th between 15th & 16th... the owner Sammy has a few birds in the shop... if he doesn't have it, he could probably tell you where to get it.
