  • Wow another crazy storm, but we didn't get any warnings for it. That hail was crazy and the water rushing down on 4th ave in front of my house was like a river. Flooded on both sides of 4th ave bet 6th and 3rd street. Lightening too was amazing to watch also.
  • I'm still seeing lots of lightning and thunder here.
  • Ugh, disgusting dirty water gushed in from the washer and toilet. I thought it might happen when I saw the water level in the street outside our house (St Marks between 4 & 5). Just finished sopping it up, the leaves and dirt will have to wait until tomorrow.
  • We had some leaks that were brand new!
  • Frogs. I'm thinking frogs.

i'm thinking Republicans getting elected in a landslide

    isn't that the final plague?
  • Stop it! That kind of shit gives me nightmares.
  • I drove back from Woodstock through some of the most torrential rain I've ever encountered. Got back to the Slope to find.....SNOW? WTF?
  • Weird. Still some patches of hail in our yard this morning. We were at a show in the city and in a cab home around 11:30. It looked like a normal rainy evening there and then we saw signs on FDR about the BQE being closed due to flooding, and the rain got heavy as we hit 4th Ave and Atlantic--saw some cars that looked like they had floated out of parking spots and one lane was too flooded for cars to drive in.

The dog was happy, though. He didn't want to go out to pee b/c of the rain but when he realized there were patches of ice on the ground he was thrilled to roll in them.
  • This is all Al Gore's fault. Now all the leaves have been ripped off the trees and we'll have no Fall foliage. Damn you Al Gore and your wiley ways!
  • and here i thought the democrats/socialists were brain storming again

Yeah all those leaves on the ground are green! Much more fun when they are crunchy orange/brown leaves under foo. That really tells you it is Fall.

I'm thinking Peter Weir -- The Last Wave.

  • This is an awesome video, look at the sidewalk! It is absolutely underwater!

  • wow where was that video (the second one) taken? that is bananas!
  • Looks like it was taken from the Gowanus Houses on Hoyt and Warren
  • Hailstorm vid from my backdoor in PS

  • I got back from a business trip Wednesday, too late to see anything in my backyard. But yesterday morning I went out...it was very sad. The ground was all torn up. I'd begun getting the garden ready for fall before I left, but I still had 3 pepper plants, 3 large eggplant bushes, and 4 dahlias all of which were going like gangbusters. They are all dead. Big holes in the peppers, with frost damage. And the fabric cover of my barbecue is full of holes as well - the hail just tore it up.
  • Oh man, this is some storm right now! If anyone takes pics, post them.

  • Freakin' loudest evar, multiple strikes just now.

No delay, just direct strikes like it was Beirut or something. ( <-- dating myself?)

  • My dog is scared, and following me around the apartment, trying to tell me he wants me to stay home with him for the day.

For some reason, I do not think HR will buy it as a sick day.

  • Mine too. All 80 pounds of him.

  • my dog stood on the windowsill with his hair standing up, barking like a fool at the sky.

You get em, bruno. Also thanks for waking me up on my day off.

  • According to the 5-day forecast we're looking at possible t-storms all week long :wtf:

  • It sounds challenging, but I think we can keep talking about the rain for five days.

We have certainly typed about less consequential things for longer.

  • Brooklynian fully endorses the comment above and any and all forms of time wasting BS on a cold rainy day. :thumleft:

  • So, that's sum thunder, huh?

  • Like WhyNot's Dude, I plan to spend the day cowering in the bathtub!

  • I think this is the greenest I've seen the park in years.
