Brooklyn Lyceum | April 28th | Charles Atlas, Apse + Bright
Live at the Lyceum
Bright + Apse + Charles Atlas
Friday, April 28, 2006
Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $10
The Brooklyn Lyceum will host an evening of neo-classical, minimalist and
indie music.
Bright
Bright have studiously erected majestic pillars of sound since their
inception in Boston, MA in 1994. Gaining notoriety and a dedicated following
for their trance-inducing, cascading minimalist rock, Bright have amassed a
brain-flogging discography of four albums... Now relocated to Brooklyn, the
duo of Dwinell and multi-instrumentalist Joe Labrecque have recharged their
energies, entering the studio early in 2005 to conceive their fifth full
length. Rapture and reverence shall be bestowed unto all fans of minimalist,
melodic ambient rock, for leading lights Bright are back with Bells Break
Their Towers, their most sonically taut and elaborately adorned recording
yet.
Apse
Spanish Label Acuarela's finest act. Dark, atmospheric rock, with an emphasis on rhythm. Themes that address issues of control, in relationship to interpersonal circumstances / spiritual entities that surround us. Damaged pop, pounding percussion, reverberated drones.
Charles Atlas
"Charles Atlas means everything to me. We are not trying to fall into any
category. When we record we just go into the studio thinking: let's make
something beautiful; something we can take home and listen to; something we
can share with our friends." -Charles Wyatt,
CA guitarist
Line Up:
Charles Atlas - 9:00
Apse - 9:45
Bright - 10:45
The Space at Live at the Lyceum:
"A renovated bathhouse with a stage lying where people once waded, the
Lyceum is the type of grand old room one would expect to find in Berlin
rather than Brooklyn." -Time Out
