Jazz bars other places of interest for visitors?

Hi all,

I'm new to PS and already I have my first visitor - my father.
62 years old, fairly fit and open minded. Problem is he's been to New York so many times that I'm running out of ideas what to do with him.
Any suggestions? I've only been to a couple of bars yet and they all seemed to have a very young audience, I don't want him to feel out of place.

:?: Also, where in PS or nearby can you listen to live jazz?

Thanks for your help!

  • BAM cafe and Barbes at Sixth Ave/9th St come to mind . . . depends on what's on for what the crowd is
Night and Day on Fifth Ave at President is a newish restaurant with live jazz, and another Fifth Ave place called Puppets (or something...it's definately been written about here before.

The Botanic Garden is amazing right now www.BBG.org, and the Brooklyn Museum has events

You might want to poke around this and the other boards a little since these questions come up periodically . . .
