CHOPIN 200th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!!
Chopin is turning 200! Come celebrate with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, May 9, 5pm, free admission! Featuring performances by: Jeffrey Armistead, Michael Brofman, Donald Hagar, Beth Levin, Christine Moore, Theresa Rosas, Michael Rose, Len Takeda, Greg Tolwinski and others.
Considered one of the masters of romantic music, Chopin composed both challenging and subjective pieces that bought new life to the classical genre. Born in 1810 to a Polish mother and French father, Chopin was considered a child piano prodigy and spent his early life in Poland with preliminary training at the Warsaw Conservatory. Chopin spent most of his adult life in France before passing away from tuberculosis in 1949.
