Nothing grammatically incorrect about that phrase. "Good" is correctly used as an adjective modifying "English" in that sentence, as opposed to "speaks English good," where it is incorrectly used as an adverb modifying "speaks".
oh, the irony.
Have to vote you out in the next Snark Slope mayoral election, sorry. -
I like Opal Center on 5th Ave (though they may have recently moved to 8th?). I've dealt with several folks there, and language was not an issue.

"Good" is not generally an adverb used to modify a verb (speaks), "well" would be a better choice. Someone who speaks English well. "English" is the object of the verb "speak" in this sentence.
If you simplify the sentence:
You speak well.
You English well.
"Good" is used to modify a noun, generally speaking. "That is a good plan" versus "that is a well plan."
Unless grammar has changed since I was in school. -
now that I think about it, it also might be because "good" isn't a proper adjective for the verb "speak" since it's sort of subjective. Well implies proper grammar, syntax etc but I think good is generally used as more of a ranking "bad-good-best" versus "poor-well."
I'm spending too much time thinking about this -
grammar debate aside, i second Opal. they just moved to 8th ave/berrkley.

Technically the OP could have been using "good" as an adjective to modify the noun "English" rather than an adverb to modify the verb "speaks." Meaning "good English" as opposed to bad English. For example, someone can cook good food or cook food well. Neither is incorrect; they just mean slightly different things.

I suppose, in my mind, the term "good" expresses quality- meaning "good english" is the quality of the English, not the quality of the speaker. Someone can speak good English poorly and still not be able to communicate- I would imagine that the OP is referring to a lack of a heavy accent/a general mastery of the speaking of the language, in which case it would be "speaking well" not speaking "good English." Even if the grammar and word choice of the speaker is correct (thus making it "good English") an inability to speak clearly would inhibit communication.
Fwiw, this was irking me all night and caused me to pull out my college syntax books (none of which actually provided an answer.) -
I'll second the recommendation for Opal.

That Carnivore. So smart. Totally how I read it too- good versus bad. Although Bad English the band leaves something to desire.
For the OP, I might recommend a medical massage if you have specific issues. I have heard of such a thing but never done it myself.
I just need someone to understand "harder" and "right there )points)." but pretty much anyone can do that. -
Perhaps a mod can split this into two separate threads - one about proper English, and another about massage recommendations.
I appreciate the recommendations of Opal. However their prices appear above what I’m looking for… Any suggestions of another place a little less expensive? Thanks. -
I love Tatem Acupunture and WEllness Center located at 285 Flatbush Avenue near St. Marks. Nichole is a licensed therapist and I went to her after my back surgery and she really helped me. She has great wellness products and a great calming vibe inside. Always feel relaxed afterwards, I have recommended so many friends and family. Never heard a bad word. My massage was $70 for about an hour. But dont go by my session, call and ask before you go. I HIGHLY recommend this place. 718-813-3015.
