Neighborhood luv
So I was out walking around on Vandy this afternoon with one of my best friends who had schlepped all the way from Astoria to hang out for the afternoon, and I'm evangelizing about the neighborhood like crazy to her because I'd love it if she and her girlfriend would eventually move over here, when I hear a bunch of people hollering my name, and there at one of the outside tables at Beast are a bunch of DH folks enjoying some cocktails and sunny weather. And then we popped into RedLipstick to say hi to SJE, had some deeericious crepes and strong-ass coffee at Le Gamin, and continued walking around the neighborhood for a bit. I just *really* love living around here; it's so much more of a cohesive, friendly neighborhood than where I used to live. And all the folks I've met through DH/Brooklynian are excellent, cool people. Awww!

I second that emotion!
It is true! This is the most amazing neighborhood. My parents were visiting this week-end from out of town and we walked around the 'hood for a few hours - they both mentioned several times how lucky my boyfriend and I are to live here!
It truly is amazing, beautiful, healthy (sometimes not) and all around wonderful cockles of the heartwarming great place to live! -
Apollonia,
How is life on your new block? Bergen near Classon, right?
By the way, June 6, 2006 is fast approaching (6/6/06). Is everyone ready for arrival of Satan? -

Closer to Grand, actually, but yeah, that block. I'm really digging it! The block's fairly lively in the afternoons (especially right when the school around the corner lets out) and quiet at night, seems very safe, people on the block are pretty friendly, and the building's great.

I had six people who work for me over to my pad last week for a mid-week get-together, and they were marvelling at the neighborhood, the street trees, the museum, the buildings, etc. Many of these folks live on the Upper West Side, but they were clearly blown away by everything PH.

It's not just the fact that the buildings in PHeights are beautiful and we've got trees and parks and great transportation and museums, but I love my neighbors and I feel so connected.
Last weekend I came from Lincoln Center to Barbes, and it was such a culture shock- Lincoln Center is so anonymous, so disconnected. And Barbes has such a great vibe... even if it is on the wrong side of Flatbush.
