Fresh Fish? — Brooklynian

Fresh Fish?

Is there any type of fish market where we can purchase fresh fish around here?

  • Not sure where you are but there is a fish market on President St off Nostrand Avenue...left hand side few doors in from Nostrand and Rogers.
  • Yeah, that place is awesome. Right across the street from the President St. 2/5 stop. I think it's called, like, "Mermaid" or something. We've gotten a couple fillets from them in the past - tilapia and stuff like that but they have a pretty wide selection.
  • Perfect!! Do you know what their hours are or do they have a phone number?
  • There's a place on Fulton b/w Nostrand + NYA

    Relatively expensive though

I hear Chinatown has crazy cheap and super fresh fish... worth investigating
  • I go to Western Beef at Empire and Washington

Yes I buy most of my fish at Grand St and Chrystie and it is super fresh and super cheap and right by the D train stop, I get sushi grade ahi tuna for $7 a lb! Red snapper is like $4 a lb
  • Won't UB My Nabor wrote: Perfect!! Do you know what their hours are or do they have a phone number?
They are open 7 days a week and they were open as I walked by about an hour ago (6:30pm-ish). I don't have a phone number for them but if I think of it, I'll write it down next time I'm headed to the train.
  • there's also a place that's just called 'fish market' right across the street from the sterling stop on norstrand. i've only purchased live crab from them but they seem to have a great fresh fish selection.
  • Subject: :D

raskin's fish market on kingston & union.

    awesome prices on salmon.
  • There is a fish market on Nostrand, between Sterling and St. John's. The prices are good and the selection is OK. They are usually crowded, but I think that is mostly people buying the fried fish sandwiches that they sell.
