Dear Prospect Place neighbor resident / owner,
Your local Prospect Place Block Association is organizing a "Gate Welding Day" with a local iron work company to secure many gates in our street which are currently easily removable.
You might remember that several gates were stolen in the past year on our blocks.
In order to organize the “Gate Welding Day" and negotiate the best price for everyone, we need to have an exact count of resident/owner interested in securing their gate.
The issue we have is that many welding companies are not interested in a single small job so we need to "package" a number of small jobs to hopefully get a good price with a willing company.
The proposed solution is to have a two-inch-long metal bar to be welded on top of the bottom hinge of the gate so it is secured to the frame.
If you are interested, kindly reply to this note directly to Andre Tulet "[email protected]" or by phone 1 718 398 1571.

The following report is from Lee Warshavsky. Thanks Lee!
I attended the special meeting held on 5/17 for representatives of Block Associations within the 77th Police Precinct to meet the new Precinct Commander.
The new Precinct Commander, Captain Elvio Capocci, has worked in Brooklyn for 14 years. He was an police officer in the 79th and 83rd Precincts and then was in the Housing Division of Brooklyn North. Captain Capocci assumed his new position just two weeks ago.
In response to my request that the 77th Precinct continue to maintain services to Prospect Heights, in spite of the more extreme needs further East, Captain Capocci not only promised to do so, but commented that right now the 77th Precinct is highly focused on a pattern of burglaries around Prospect Place and Underhill Avenue. He noted that the main source of entry for the burglaries has been ungated windows next to fire escapes. He noted that in addition to a fire escape gate, it helps to keep a curtain or blind at the window so that a potential burglar can’t see in…and an air conditioner firmly secured to the window frame. On my way home, I noticed that the 77th Precinct had posted notices regarding the burglaries around the intersection of Prospect Place and Underhill Avenue.
In response to my request that the 77th Precinct hold periodic meetings in Prospect Heights, Captain Capocci and Officer Pierre Louis, the 77th Precinct’s Community Affairs office, stated that the Precinct Council meetings were now being held in locations throughout the 77th Precinct’s boundaries and are now never held at the 77th Precinct (notwithstanding the contrary information provided in the Police Department Website). Accordingly, in order to find out where the monthly (2nd Monday of each month) Precinct Council meeting is being held, we can call either Office Pierre Louis at (646) 246-8245 or James Caldwell, President of the Precinct Council, at (917) 689-0747.

Hi. What does bump mean?

It means to bump a prior thread back to the top of the heap by adding a new post (such as "Bump!", for example).
