The Brooklyn Hospital Center Community Health Fair
This Saturday in Fort Greene Park, The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) is hosting a Community Health Fair to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles and to provide information about the services and programs that TBHC offers to the community.
More importantly, the Health Fair will be holding Free Health Screenings including asthma, dental, glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, postural, foot, PSA, BMI, and vascular screenings. There will also be information on cancer prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness, nutrition and surgical weight loss programs, home health care, smoking cessation, patients’ rights and health proxy, and other topics. Representatives from TBHC’s Pharmacy will be available to screen and counsel seniors on medication management.
Healthfirst, AmeriChoice, and Neighborhood Health Providers are among the HMOs who will provide information on Medicare, Medicaid and other health-insurance entitlements for seniors, women, children, and those who are uninsured or underinsured. Special activities for children include face painting, a clown, and special giveaways. There will also be recruitment tables for job seekers and those who are interested in serving on TBHC’s Community Advisory Board.
