6/13: Lost at Sea Tour-Titanic and other maritime disasters
On Sunday, June 13, Woodlawn tours the resting places of some of the country’s most notable personalities with a connection to the sea, including Herman Melville, Admiral David G. Farragut, George DeLong, Capt. John Tallman, and Isidor and Ida Straus. Several tragic voyages – including the RMS Titanic (April 15, 1912), the RMS Lusitania (May 7th 1915), SS General Slocum (June 15, 1904), the SS Morro Castle (September 8, 1934) and the USS Jeanette (June 13, 1881) – will also be featured in the tour. Leading the tour will be Dr. J. Joseph Edgette, Titanic scholar and Emeritus Folklorist at Widener University.
