She hit us and drove away

Did you see the 4-car pile up on Sixth Ave between 9th Street and 10th Street on Saturday, June 12, 2010 around 7:30 PM?

A late model, small maroon car ploughed into my Saturn stopped for the red light on 6th Ave at the corner of 10th Street. My car then rear-ended a light-silver Impala, which, in turn hit, an SUV. SUV was OK, so left. Impala and Saturn pulled over.

A medium-tall, light haired woman came out of the maroon car behind us, and said "Sorry." The man in the Impala exchanged info with me, but while we were doing that, the woman (in her 30's or 40's) in the maroon car who caused the accident left!

Neither of us saw when she slipped away; we didn't get her plate number.

If you, or someone you know, saw what happened, we all could really use your help.

Comments

  • It may be a long shot, but check with the businesses along there for security tapes. Maybe one of them has video with her plates (or just saw something).
  • Was the front of the small maroon car damaged?

Folks might keep an eye out for that, and make note of the plates (and/or take a pic).
  • If you have collision coverage forget it, can't raise your rates for being rear-ended or in a hit and run. Hitting the car in front of you is probably your fault, I know I know, "But I got hit from behind!" trust me, unless you got hit at highway speeds it's on you for not leaving enough space between you and the car in front of you, and so on for the car in front of him.
4 Car Pileup? A little dramatic don't you think, it's a fender bender. Leaving the scene is a crime and inconsiderate but it doesn't warrant CSI.
  • When I was a child, I often blamed broken stuff on mysterious characters that disappeared like a puff of smoke.

    Just sayin'.

Do they have cameras in or around this intersection?
  • does BrookSignal drive a late model, small maroon car by any chance?

you might be on to something :p.
  • Subject: Update to traffic accident

Went back to 6th Ave at 10th St. Most businesses are child care svcs. No one I interviewed saw anything. I may need to go back on Saturday at the same time of the accident.

Found one camera at the intersection of 6th Ave and 9th, pointing toward corner of 9th. Occupant will check the playback, assuming camera was on.

Thanks for all the feedback. Will keep you posted.
