Sweetest dog abandoned at Ace Supermarket (Berkeley and 7th)
I read these boards every now and then just to see what's going on in the neighborhood and have never posted before. Tonight, my husband and I and a friend stopped in Ace Supermarket (Berkeley Place and 7th Ave) around 11 pm on the way home from dinner to see the sweetest dog (older cocker spaniel from what we could tell) tied up outside. We pet her and went into the store only to have the people working mention that the dog had been left outside for approx. 2 hours by a man that they had assumed was just a customer who was now gone. Thankfully, a woman had left her phone number with them and told them to call her if no one came back to get the dog. We also left our number in case she didn't show, as they had already called her.
All I can say right now is that I am appalled by the lack of humanity possessed by a person who would leave their dog tied up outside a store either accidentally (something in me wants to believe that this may be feasible) or intentionally, relying on the kindness of strangers to take the dog in. I truly can think of no excuse for what we witnessed tonight and am only grateful for the kind woman who happened to come in the store before us and the kind store owners who cared enough to make sure someone responsible took the dog home.

That sucks.
Did the dog still have tags, or did the owner remove them to cover his tracks? -
Poor baby, I hope the little critter is better off in his new home.

Well, at least he left it tied up at a location where he probably thought some other person would be kind enough to take care of it. It could have been much worse. Kudos to you for stepping up for the poor abandoned pooch!

that really sucks. Slope Cellars adopted a dog once that they found tied to the bus stop and left there with a pillow. I don't know what's wrong with people. I will never understand it. He did end up with a fabulous new home, though
Howdy, Stranger!
