Have a Heart. Please Water a Street Tree.

The trees are dying. The young trees are most at risk, but the older ones will appreciate it as well. I have been doing my part ,taking 5 gallon jugs of water to the trees on my block. I have even bought water for trees not near my house. It is just so sad to see the state they are in. Oh. and as tax payers, we paid to plant them and it will be us again paying to replant them if they die. Thank you and have a great day, everyone.

Been doing this on my block of Park Place, between Classon and Franklin, for the last week or so. Five gallons at a time, when I walk the mighty mutt.

Thank you, every bit helps. I just got back in from watering a pretty tree with purple leaves on St. Marks and Franklin. I had seen it when out walking my dog. Poor thing has lost quite a few leaves. I got some gallon jugs of Poland Spring from a store a few blocks away. I must look a bit insane walking about the neighbourhood with a push cart of water jugs, but hey, I have been insane for things far less important. LOL I wish I knew how to get this post global as all the trees in Brooklyn could use the help.

Subject: young street trees

the last month has been hell for a lot of the newly planted street trees. They need AT LEAST 20 gallons a week, each, and until today there hadn't been any rain for weeks. A really nice tulip poplar on Parkside, a half block from the subway, died of shock, and another right next to it is seriously ailing. I live 3 blocks away and carried water to it, and I can't believe there are thousands of people streaming past and nobody thinks to water them.

I think that it is just another case of people not taking note of what is right in front of them. Maybe if they see someone else watering the trees, they will also. I am so glad for the rain today. Thank you FLH, for caring.

Just when I was wondering if it was my lookout to water that tree, city came by and watered the 2-year-old tree right outside my house today.

About 15 minutes before the skies opened up for an hour.
