a peach one, preferably. Please tell me somewhere within walking distance of park slope can help ("walking distance" defined as anywhere that one may not die of heatstroke while traveling to.)

does louie g. do milkshakes?

  • Louie G does have milkshakes, not sure what flavors, but I'm guessing any ice-cream they have can be a shake.
  • No peach, but I hear good things about the milkshakes at Bark.
  • Sweet Melissa may also have shakes since they have ice cream now.
  • I've been sort of unenthused with Louie G in the past (the ices and icecream seem just ok for the price) and some googling has led me to believe their shakes are around $5 which seems a bit steep for a subpar milkshake...
  • Make your own! Go to the JJ Byrne market for some good peaches (I've had them--tasty) then hit a grocery store for some ice-cream and milk. :) Wait, do you have a blender, because I think you need one for this.

I love the pumpkin ice-cream at Louie G's, ftr. Love.
  • I dont have a blender :(

I was also thinking of venturing to chinatown today (separate endeavor.) anyone know of a place in that area even?

There was a fast-food style burger place back home in NC that used to make THE most killer peach shakes. I crave them every year when it gets this hot
  • the shakes at gran castillo are great and like $3, probably no peach but mamey is awesome

and now i'm gonna get one with a side of fried shrimp sandwich
  • if you're going to chinatown, vivi bubble tea on bayard definitely has peach but i can't say that it'll be good
  • ^^ Carny, also convinced me of the goodness of the fried shrimp with avo there.
  • If you are going to Chinatown, Chinatown Ice Cream factory on Bayard (?) has good ice cream and I'm pretty sure they have peach. I don't know if they make shakes, though.
  • If you care to take the bus down 4th ave (or the D,N or R) to 36st Street:

Ines Bakery has a whole range of awesome fresh fruit shakes, maybe even including peach (melocoton):

They have a board up on the wall showing the individual exotic fruit smoothies but they're more than happy to mix several fruits if you ask.

Grab a pupusa (cooked right in front of you) while you're at it.

Very inexpensive, fresh and the staff could not be nicer.

It's just off the NW corner of 4th Ave and 36st St, right up the stairs from the subway station.
  • Damn, now I want a peach milkshake, too.
  • ive heard very good things about gran castillo ....good luck!
now im craving one also :)
  • Now I have this stuck in my head. Thanks a lot, Carmen

epic thread has been duly noted! :)
    thanks
  • Does Blue Marble do shakes? If not , they should and they'd probably do peach and they'd definitely be delicious.
  • Yes, Blue Marble does milkshakes and they'll do it with any ice cream they've got. I've never seen them have peach ice cream but I don't see any other bin but the chocolate one.
  • I thought I saw peach at the Atlantic Avenue store but I could be mistaken. Their strawberry ice cream would make a wonderful shake though.
  • What about Coldstone Creamery in Atlantic Center?
  • You know, I heard somewhere that Carmen's milkshake brings as the boys to the yard.

    Just sayin :-'
  • Witness this thread, I guess.
