Below is info on a workshop on Waldorf education being held at the Park Slope Food Coop on Saturday at 3pm. Here's the text from the flyer:

Waldorf Education: Fostering a Love of Learning

Waldorf education is the fastest growing independent school system in the
world, with over 900 schools worldwide. Each school seeks to provide an
educational experience that captivates, challenges and inspires a child's
mind, body and spirit.

This workshop will explore core elements of the curriculum, in the context of current educational trends, with particular focus on storytelling, art and
creative play in the younger years.

A Q & A will allow for discussions about the school community, alumni
experiences, and the steps underway to open a Waldorf school in Brooklyn.

Presenters:

Patti Smith, Ed.D is the assistant director of secondary school redesign at the Education Alliance at Brown University. She was a Waldorf kindergarten teacher for 12 years. Her current work reflects the need to personalize education for children and to engage in creative child-appropriate practices.

Stefan Schaefer is a Coop member, writer, filmmaker and Waldorf alum.
Together with other Brooklyn parents and teachers, he is founding the
Brooklyn School – an affiliate member of AWSNA (Association of Waldorf
Schools of North America). The school opens in September, with pre-K and
Kindergarten classes.
