Hit and Run Friday 8/20: 12th Street b/w 3rd and 4th avenues

One week after having our car window smashed with a piece of curb, we returned from an outing tonight to find that somebody has hit our car, and hard, from behind. There's heavy damage to our bumper and tires. And there's tape and a bit of paper on our driver side window, which we believe must've been a note from somebody who saw something. But we can't find the note.

Did anybody see a hit and run with a gray Honda Civic on Friday, August 20th, between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. on 12th Street (between 3rd and 4th avenues)? Maybe while enjoying a drink at Cantina?

We'd be forever grateful for the help. This is really unbelievable, our bad luck twice in a matter of weeks. And it makes me really hate living here. Thanks.

  • in the last five years ive spent over $7000 on hit and run auto body repairs living not far from where you were parked. Between the sanitation trucks, gas trucks and every other truck that permiates this area on residential streets every car seems to have an invisible target on it
  • We got a little more information. Turns out some drunkard hit our car at about 1:00 a.m. Friday morning. We just didn't see the damage until we headed out on Friday night.

There have been a few amazing samaritans who have left notes on our car, one who took down the license number of the person he claims he saw hit it as he left his security position in the new overly priced condo building. Apparently, the car belonging to the person who hit us was worse off than ours and had to be towed away Friday morning sometime. Sucks for us that we didn't see anything until after his or her car was towed away. There's a police report, and my husband is on the phone with our insurance company now.

So, I'll pose the question with new info reflected: if anybody saw or heard anything early Friday morning regarding a damaged green car that hit a gray Honda Civic on 12th Street, please be in touch. Thank you!
  • If your insurance company is handling it and the cops have a report and know who it is, let your insurance provider handle the rest. And, if the other driver's insurance company calls you and asks you for info, don't say anything except for "my insurance has all the info".
  • Ironic that you slammed the "new overly priced condo building" when an employee of that building, ostensibly paid by its owners, saved your ass. How about a big, warm shout-out to people who build the buildings which house the employees who have the eyes which see the accidents, for a change?
  • Whoa there, fictionfiction. Not sure where you’re coming from, but rest assured that we’ve doled out heaps of thanks and appreciation to the many aggressive Samaritans who’ve been overwhelmingly helpful this past weekend. And I apologize that I overlooked doing this as publicly as you would’ve preferred. Many thanks.
