Last Weekend of Season! History Project Exhibition Center — Brooklynian

Last Weekend of Season! History Project Exhibition Center

Join us on Labor Day Weekend at the Coney Island History Project for the closing weekend of our 2010 season to view our featured exhibit "Luna Park Revisited." The History Project's free public exhibition center on Surf Ave under the Cyclone Roller Coaster will be open from 1-6 pm on Saturday, September 4, through Monday, September 6. ADMISSION IS FREE OF CHARGE

The exhibit details the history of the original Luna Park, from opening day in 1903 to the dramatic fire that destroyed it forty years later. Rare archival photos, family snapshots, souvenir postcards and fun ephemera from Luna Park will be on display in "Luna Park Revisited." More than a century after the original Luna Park opened, Coney Island's iconic park has inspired the creation of Zamperla's new Luna Park. Photos of the new Luna Park's magnificently lit entrance are also on view in the exhibit

The exhibition center houses photos, artifacts and ephemera relating to Coney Island's colorful past, including a Steeplechase horse from the ride that gave Steeplechase Park its name.

Re Hurricane Earl: CIHP is open rain or shine, if in doubt check our twitter feed at http://twitter.com/ConeyHistory for last-minute weather updates, cancellations, or delays.
