There are a bunch of different brands that make a keratin/brazilian style treatment and the effectiveness of it for each person depends on the training of the stylist applying the product. I actually just provided this service for DoubleDiamond (she's away on vacation at the moment but I will point her to this thread) using the Keratin Complex Treatment by Coppola. She, echoing others who I've done this with, is extremely pleased with the result.
Your results will vary based on the condition/texture of your own hair. If you're really interested I could schedule a consultation with you and we could discuss this specific product further. I work at a salon in SoHo. -
How much it cost?? My hair are very very damage after the Japanese straightening ...I'm kind of afraid my hair are gonna fall off afterward...coz I read alot about the bad effact online!!! Also when I wash my hair each time...they just all mess and broke!!!one of my friend suggest the keratin to me... What I should do if there getting worst??Thx!!

If your hair is breaking off just from washing it, it might be beyond repair at this point. The Keratin Complex treatment doesn;t further damage your hair, but it's not going to repair it if it's truly breaking that often. The treatment starts at $350 and lasts 3-6 months.

Better if you spend your money on remedial spelling and grammar classes.

Comment might be a little harsh but agree with the good advice. -

I've done it multiple times and its great. It doesn't really straighten your hair - just smoothes it a lot. Gets rid of the frizz and makes it easier to blow dry (but you still have to blow it out if you want it straight) It washes out over time.

Subject: keratin tx
i had it done at fez on fifth ave by kiwi...definitely worth trying at least once. it takes out the frizz, makes it easier to dry (but yes, still needs to be blown dry to style) and fades with time...supposedly the more you do it the longer each treatment will last because it builds up the strength/proteins in your hair, not sure if that's true but i don't see any drawbacks to trying it. just to be warned, you can't wash it, pull it back, put any bobbypins or anything in it for 72 hours after getting it done which makes for an interesting first few days but after you wash it, it feels great...try it! -
There are also many new "express" type products which allow you to wash your hair after 8 hours. These services are less strong, generally lasting 6 weeks, and are quicker/easier to apply and therefor cheaper. The ones I've seen start around $150 versus $300+ for the longer-lasting version.

MOD NOTE:
BrooklynGigCenter, that was a bit rude, no? Please, play nice and understand that some people type fast, some people are not native speakers, and some are not used to using message boards and crafting their posts. -

Better if you spend your money on remedial manners...
I'd love to know how many languages you master. -

Um, what if the person posting is a non-native speaker? I'm sure if she were writing a cover letter for a job, she'd have someone proof it for her. But this is a neighborhood discussion board on the internet. It's a thread about hair for Pete's sake. -
Thank you for all the nice people here...thx....also thank you for all the advices for my hair ...

Hey lovetorrist - I had my hair done by Carmen and I love it and she did a great job. The keratin doesn't do the kind of damage that the Japanese Straightening does. It definitely left my hair shiny and soft, and my hair is normally really dry.
However, if your hair is as damaged as you say it is, perhaps you can give it some deep conditioning for a while? I'd follow up with Carmen and see what you can do to repair the hair you have (cut some of it, deep oil conditioning every week for a few months, stuff like that) and then consider the keratin treatment instead of the Japanese Straightening. -
carmen...where is your salon?? ill come over to ck it up!!!
