Free film screenings at LaunchPad tonight!
Hope some of you can join us tonight around 8 at LaunchPad on Franklin.
Kings County Cinema Society is presenting a couple awesome films about design:
LOGORAMA (2009, 16 minutes), a 3D animated piece from H5 production house in France, packs over 2,500 copyrighted corporate logos and mascots into a frenzied LA-set action flick. Characters, props, locations, vehicles, and everything else is a brand image in this carefully constructed, hilarious anti-Pixar shoot-em-up. This winner of the Best Animated Short at this year's Oscars.
Followed by the recent celebrated documentary HELVETICA (2007, 80min), a clever and eye-opening look at the ubiquitous typeface, and more broadly, at graphic design, marketing, and global visual culture. "Funny to think that [this] font movie would have the potential to restore one's faith in art and its myriad meanings, but it does." -Rob Nelson, City Pages
TONIGHT 8pm, LaunchPad, 721 Franklin Ave btw Park Pl and Sterling Pl. 2/3/4/5 to Franklin. FREE/ POPCORN PROVIDED/ BYOB + snacks!
Hope to see you there...
