Activity in former mattress, fomer Biscuit space on Flatbush

It looks like they're setting up the place for a new business. Anyone have the inside scoop? There's no notice or permits posted on the window, but they're clearly doing something in there. The mattress place seemed so random in that location. Before that, (followed by a long vacancy) it used to be Biscuit (old BBQ restaurant). I think some kind of food venue would be good for that location even though Biscuit didn't work out.

  • a flatbush poem:

    a fallen awning

and broken glass I did spy

    was it a bad dream?
  • wasn't Biscuit wildly popular for a while and then the owner decided to move on to something else? that's what I vaguely remember.

and yes, I did hear the awning fell in a dramatic fashion. didn't see it myself.

I loved Biscuit's monthly pig roasts. They moved to Park Slope for a while, then closed.

Did you ever go for the pig roast? That definitely wasn't awful.
  • Quite honestly, after tasting their barbecue, biscuits, fried chicken and other regular menu items, I never really paid attention to what else they offered.
  • biscuit was indeed awful.

too bad, we could use a good bbq place around this area.
  • Has anyone been to the bbq place on Rockaway & Atlantic (or is it EP?). It has a big spray painted sign, graffiti style. I can never tell if they're open or closed.
  • I missed Biscuit on Flatbush but tried them when they were on 5th briefly, and it was the worst plate of steam-table-quality BBQ I could imagine. And they charged extra for cornbread to go with the BBQ which to me is just plain rude.
  • I could not figure out the space that you guys were talking about until I walked home this evening. When did the mattress store go out? It must be really recent. I swear that it was open the last time I looked at that store, which feels like last week.
