Call me slow but..what happened to the edit button for posts?

With the new plumbing behind Brooklynian, the edit button only appears for 60 minutes after you write the post. After that, it's locked for editing. Is there a specific post you need to edit?

i'll butt in here. . . i posted a few hours ago. i came back this evening and saw my old post and found a typo i'd like to change. (it was still a word so spellcheck wouldn't have helped.) but since it has been more than an hour, i can't fix it. not a huge deal, but it would be nice.

you fixed my typo, thanks, but not the inability to edit ex post facto. unless you wan do figs awl night tightropes.

how the heck do i delete a post? i cannot edit and now i cannot delete...ARGHHHHH this is so dumb, please tell me those features are functioning and im the dumb one.

As said above, you can edit a post up to about a hour after you submit. If there is something totally egregious you posted or you created a topic you want removed please PM me or another moderator. We will help you out.

Bikerchic60, if you scroll over the bottom of your post where it says "Posted X min ago" you should get see a line that says "Edit Delete Undelete Reply" which appears in a slightly lighter grey text. Simply click on the word edit and it should pop you back into the original editor with your post in the box.

As was mentioned above after one hour your post is locked and this function disapears.

OK, so i cannot edit posts now...AGAIN!. i just posted an event and i forgot to add something. the edit button lead me nowhere, and 3 minutes later it disappeared. this site is becoming frustrating with all the changes.

You can only edit a post/submission within about an hour time line. More then any other website allows you. In fact, facebook and every major website has absolutely no edit button, what you submit is final with them.

Those websites allow you to delete your post if you'd wish to. I sure wish that feature would be restored on this forum...especially since my Gardening event has been canceled due to the weather forecast!

Why don't you just follow up your Gardening post with a second post in the same thread, indicating that the event has been canceled?

Tried that, it wont even let me view the post. I guess im the only one with this problem? I just emailed admin on it.

The edit function seems to only work sporatically.

For example, when I create a post on an existing thread and then attempt to edit it, it allows me to.

However, if I create a new thread (such as http://brooklynian.com/forum/brooklyn-and-beyond/nyc-government-subsidized-affordable-housing), it routes me back to the home page when I try to edit it.

This happens in Firefox, Explorer and Chrome.

Yes, I am attempting to edit within the prescribed 1 hr period.

Whynot PM DH or I your edit and we'll update it. Not sure why that is happening, but it seems some bugs are still on the list to be fixed.

~ Bikerchick, sorry but we all have to play by the same rules when it comes to Listings. Though things are always taken under consideration and changes are always being made to the site. So it maybe that we change that limit, revamp that board.. etc.. we'll announce changes as they occur.

I am saying that i have sent emails to the brooklynian email acct's [[email protected] and [email protected]]and haven't gotten any response.

I just sent another email to the admin acct from my work address. I'm in need of assistance posting an event for next Sunday. the email i sent contained all info. thanks.
