El Jalapeno
I walk by El Jalapeno everyday to and from the subway. We finally ordered it last night on the recommendation of friends. I'm pissed I waited this long try it! It was de-lish-ous! It's going into the regular rotation!
I lived in California for many years and miss the cheap, flavorful Mexican food that was in abundance out there, but, for some reason is so hard to find in NYC. El Jalapeno comes pretty close.
I'd recommend giving it a try.

Where is it? I seem to recall lookin' at the menu and not being impressed... but it could have been another place.

Tried it a few months ago and it was meh. Maybe I'll try it again.

I've had their portobello fajitas and have to say, it was the best veggie fajitas I've ever had. Also, when I asked for spicy guac, they truly gave me spicy guac (altho I thought it lacked enough salt, lime and cilantro, it didn't lack jalapenos).
