Yahoo shutting down Delicious — Brooklynian

Yahoo shutting down Delicious

Seriously? Can't they just sell it or open source it?

Something has been up for a while. It's been overrun with link spam that should have been easy to bury if a single person was minding the site.

  • Nooooooo! I'm bummed to hear that. Too lazy to read article. Is there another site for saving bookmarks? I really like Delicious.

  • It looks like Yahoo is coming back from the brink of stupid. The plan is to find Delicious a new home:

But to be fair to Yahoo, what happened was this: somebody leaked a slide from an internal Yahoo presentation that listed Delicious as one of its web services that would be "sunsetted". People saw the word "sunset" and assumed the worst.

There may be more to the story, but Yahoo never came out and said "hey guys, we're shutting it down." And now they have confirmed that it will not go away.

This is good news. For years, de.licio.us (and now delicious.com) has been my first stop--not google--when I search for anything software or web-service related.
