Gin from Sunset Park
... and whiskey in Bushwick, and Rye in Williamsburg made by the Brooklyn Brewery folks:
Brooklyn Distilleries Make Post-Prohibition Return
For $38 a bottle, Brueckelen (Sunset Park) makes gin out of organic New York grains, flavored with juniper, rosemary, lemon, grapefruit and/or ginger. Meanwhile in Bushwick, Kings County Distillery makes "moonshine" and bourbon; they get credit as the first of the "new" Brooklyn distilleries.
Probably the biggest news here, though, is that Brooklyn Brewery is getting into the distilling business. They already have the reach and distribution to Make a Mark (ha, ha? anybody?) on the spirits scene.
Howdy, Stranger!
