  • Why in the world would anyone want to live there?

  • Cheap rent. Close to mass transit. Near some people's jobs. Need I say more?

  • yea yea, the real reason is that it's becoming "hip"

  • I work out there and that corner is always having problems. If I get a ride home 1/2 the time there's a shooting or accident on that block. There was a 2person shooting recently where they just hit 2 random people shopping and waiting for the bus.

  • yea yea, the real reason is that it's becoming "hip"

No, I was talking about why the people who have been living there for years live there. I don't think anyone who lives there think of the neighborhood as being "hip" (unless you are from the Caribbean in which case, its the center of the universe).

  • ok still no info on the shooting incident..???

  • sterio5-

Sorry to disappoint, but sometimes the posters on this board only know what is on Gothamist.

Our attempts to have the criminal element post their motivations have been met with very limited success. ...and a lot of this board's regular members tend to live within 2 miles of GAP.

...which sucks, because Utica Avenue could be really nice. The 4 runs really often, and it isn't that far to Mhtn.

  • oh I was talking about those weird hipsters that are starting to take over. they come from the midwest or whereever theyre from and move into low-income areas and our rents seem to go up

  • what is gothamist and what is GAP?

  • Jacqueline, you are not from here, as noted by yourself in another thread, maybe you should stop and learn more about the nabe before jumping onto many discussions which you know a little about.

  • Actually, "mamacita" I've lived in Bedstuy, and Bayridge my mother lived in Flatbush, and I worked in Brooklyn for years. I know a lot about Brooklyn, excuse me for not being up on the slang. This is a free country and I will do as I please :)

  • Just trying to help, I've seen you arguing with other members and I'm trying to save you some unneeded hassles.

  • know little about? who doesn't know about the crime in these areas? the only other discussions I've "jumped into" had to do with racism, and animals. Topics you don't have to be from Brooklyn to know about

  • ok well I don't see it as being that serious. It's actually fun, I'm just bored and have never been on a discussion board like this before

  • Yeah, but you are talking with actual locals in that specific area and when you start off saying "Why in the world would anyone want to live there?" and then go on about hipsters and such.... which Homeowner has clarified for you, well you can see how you are making newbie mistakes... eh forgettabloutit... Stay Calm and Carry On... peace. Let's all get along in the New Year.

  • is this some weird cult or something? do you feel like this is your home? huh mamacita? am I too newbie to fit in to your little clique? that made me giggle.. thanks for the laugh!

  • Wow, that is not at all what I said.

  • Locking for the time being. Jacqueline, if you're here to pick fights and be confrontational, you're in the wrong place, and we'll probably end up timing out your account indefinitely. If you like to fight online anonymously, there are lots of good sites out there that we can recommend for you. If on the other hand, you want to add anything constructive, we'd love to hear it.
