F/G train issues--for Tuesday, Jan. 18

If you have some time on Tuesday morning between 7:30 and 9, please join Councilmember Lander in a petition campaign at the 15th street station.

The more pressure we put on the MTA, the better are the chances of getting additional bus service to the 7 avenue station during the viaduct repairs.

All of the details are below.

1. Please encourage your neighbors to join Councilmember Lander and Gene Rushanoff at the Bartel Pritchard Square entrance to the 15th Street F/G station, the station entrance that is at the corner of Prospect Park SW & Bartel Pritchard. We'll be talking to everyone, but especially targeting transit riders who get off the B68 bus (at the stop on PPSW nearest the Prospect Park entrance, then cross PPSW to the subway entrance).

2. We plan to be there from 7:30 - 9 a.m. We will be doing a press release that encourages reporters to come at 8 a.m.

2. We will meet at Bartel Pritchard and fan out from there. Some of us will fan out to the south-bound platforms of both the 15th Street & Fort Hamilton Parkway Stations. We would like to have enough people to cover all of the stairways down to the stations, from the 5 entrances. We think petitioning on the platform makes the most sense, since (a) it will be cold outside and (b) easier to get people to sign once they've swiped.

If you have anyone who can join us, please have them contact me (Jessica Turner) by phone 646-450-3515 or (less preferred as I don’t have a blackberry!) email: [email protected].

3. We will send out an e-blast with a link to our online petition at 5 a.m. Tuesday to more people. Please feel free however to circulate the attached widely. I will have copies and clipboards with me Tuesday morning.

Thanks so much, hope to see you and have a good weekend,

Jessica

  • Judt another kick in the a-- for Brooklyn, especially downtown. Whatever happened to the big bruhaha about the B71 bus elimination (as well as so many of the other buses that have served Crown Heights or Carroll Gardens). I now have to pay car service in order to get to work at Prospect Heights HS. What was the divine intelligence for rerouting the B69 bus off PPW/8ht on to 7th Ave. Outside of Park Slope, the B67 bus now runs every half hour, a hardship for the many elderly who must stand in crowded conditions in order to get to medical appointments. I am so happy about the new, super fast buses running on the Upper East Side I just don't know how tho thank Hizoner!
