A SUMMONS for Biking on the sidewalk?

I've got to say that when the kids were 1st learning to ride their bikes, I often rode on the sidewalks with them as they were neither competent enough to control their bikes well or strong enough to lift them off themselves when they fell over. I just felt it was safer for the other pedestrians (and me) than trying to ride in traffic and keep an eye on them on the sidewalk.
