Party Permit

Ok, so I want to throw a block party this summer either in my back yard (yeah its that big) or on my street. One, has anyone done this before? What kind of permit do I need in order to serve alcohol and have a live band? Who would be down to come to a block party with a live Dub/Reggae/punk band? I've already called our precicnt and left a msg. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just went through this for a block party permit. If you have never had one before you must be a "group" (i.e., block association, school, church, etc.). If you are not, you must get a petition signed by the majority of homeowners on the street you want to have the block party on. Once you have that you get the application at your local Community Board and submit the application wih the petition. There are special permits you get through teh Community Board if you will have vendors selling goods, rides, music, etc.

If it is a regular old house party then its best to invite the neighbors or at least inform them of the party and check with the precinct what time you have to cut the music off
