Best way to meet people in Park Slope?

I'm somewhat new to Park Slope and mostly know people from my school. It'd be refreshing to have a greater variety of contacts in the area.

Any suggestions?

  • Brooklynian has occasional bar crawls, bike rides, and other in- person activities. You'll meet a variety of strange and/or wonderful people from the Slope, Prospect Heights, and nearby nabes.

  • The last one we did was in Crown Heights.

....will we be safe in Park Slope? :)

  • Awesome, I'll try and make the next one!

  • Join the Park Slope Food Coop. You will be required to meet a lot of different people.

  • Go to community events,

if you like gardening ->there's the PS community garden,

like to read or write --> go to the book readings at the local bookstores and cafe's..

Check out events at the Bellhouse (they have cooking contests too) or Lyceum (lots of stuff going on there -including a nice cafe), Don't forget BAM <--lots going on there

Like to drink? --> check out Freddy's, Sharlene's, Pacific Standard, Cherry Tree... they all have trivia nights (just join a team that needs a partner), karaoke, NFL/MBA.

Like to workout? The YMCA or Body Reserve have group classes and I've made friends that way too.

Have a dog? or a friend with a dog? Go to off leash hours at Prospect Park.. you'll meet lots of people.

Want to learn to knit? There's a member YarnMonkey that posts knitting events here (and yes, men do knit!)

In general, become a regular at some place, take some fun classes, go to museum events, just don't be shy.

  • get drunk at the double windsor.

  • Thanks for all the awesome suggestions!

  • Hey man, I just moved to Park Slope too. Let me know if you find any cool places.

  • "get drunk at the double windsor."
