O'Connor's v. Freddy's: Game 2
Subject: O'Connor's v. Freddy's: Game 2
The Freddy's and O'Connor's softball squads met for their second game of the season yesterday evening in Prospect Park. Things initially looked grim for the Freddy's team as several of their top players were no-shows. O'Connor's, on the other hand, brought their A-Team - minus Mr. T. The O'C's squad was looking like the best team buybacks could buy. As feared, O'C's struck early collecting 5 runs in the top of the 1st off rookie pitcher Charlie Young through a combination of solid hitting and Freddy's woeful defense. Freddy's team began to pray for divine intervention. "O Great Spirit, please give us a sign that you ae with us in our hour of darkness and allow us not to lose this game horrifically and while you're at it could you do something about Marty Markotwitz." Despite their prayers, O'C's bartender Kevin shutout the Freddy's team thru two innings. The Freddy's bats began to awaken in the bottom of the third with a runner actually reaching first base. The next batter,Adrienne, dribbled the ball toward pitcher Kevin who tossed the ball to O'C' captain, Bart the BARTender. Bart announced last game that he has health insurance. He slid over from short to cover second as the runner advance from first. The "soft" ball bounced up and bashed Bart in the beak. Play was called as Bart's broken and profusely bleeding nose was iced and then taken to Methodist Hospital with Bart. The Freddy's team generously agreed to not count the game as a forfeit despite O'Connor's unilateral withdrawal from the diamond. Both teams celebrated their non-losses at O'C's and raised their glasses to Bart who was named MVP. Kevin, the bartender who threw the injuring ball, volunteered to cover Bart's lucrative weekend shifts.

Do you guy think you would be interested in playing our crew?
-
practically speaking, we can barely get it together to play 3 or 4 times per year b/t fred's and o'c's so it's doubtful that we could get a quorum for another game. but you could play for either freddy's or o'connor's team if you occasionally have a drink in either place.

Subject: Bart's pic
Hey folks,
There's a picture of Bart at OC's for both teams to sign. Yep, its THAT picture. I know it's tempting, but please don't sign it with the following epithets:
- "Everybody knows"
- "Hey, Mr. nosey-guy"
- "Look out! Its Nose-faratu"
- "Oh no, there goes To-kee-oo, go go Nosezilla"
- "Next, Nose-strand Avenue"
- "the Cosa Nose-stra"
or the like. Non team member, no gawking or rubber-necking at the bar. Link to photos will be up soon. -
I think it was Pete that threw the ball at Bart's nose. Pete was the pitcher for some of season one and came back last week.
Howdy, Stranger!
