Cat Groomer Recommendations
Got me two cats that are starting to shed with the hot weather. Would love some recommendations for groomers in Park Slope/Prospect Heights/Crown Heights who know how to handle cats, come with excellent referrals, and maybe even do house calls. Been browsing the message boards and it seems like cat/pet grooming is a dicey business and I would rather they not come back with nicks and cuts. Thanks.

Try getting a Furminator brush. It will run you about $30, but it's worth it when the cats shed a lot--it really helps!

Already have the Furminator thanks. Bathtub and snarky response, check.

Every year I have my long haired cat groomed at the vet at the same time as her annual check up. Last year, I went to Animal Kind on 7th Ave and I thought they were really great.
Check the grooming link on their website; the groomer has a separate phone # for appointments; I don't know if she makes housecalls but you could always ask. -
Rocco and Jezabel for pets in Brooklyn Heights does grooming, don't know if they have a website, this is their FB page

www.animalkind.com?I have a long haired Himalayan that is prone to dreadlocks, and though I do like the Rastafarian look, she gets pretty uncomfortable and so I have her groomed twice a year. I moved to Park Slope from CT three years ago and having bad experiences with groomers traumatizing the poor lil thing in the past, I was pretty nervous about finding a new one in the neighborhood. I also took my cat to Animal Kind Vetrinary Hospital on 7th for a check up and because the prices there were very reasonable, I had her groomed the same day. The groomer did an excellent job and the kitty came home looking totaly relaxed, smelling wonderful, without dreads and knick/cut free! I have been continuing to use the groomer there ever since and have always been very happy with the results. You do have to call the groomer on a separate line to schedule your appointment and she usually gets the job done fairly quickly. Good luck!

I also use Animal Kind. My little guy has to go in 4 times a year anyway for check ups and they are pretty great about helping me schedule his med appointments back to back with grooming. Last time I think it ran $40 for a lion cut, thats no shampoo or extras. She is really fast and does a great job.
Howdy, Stranger!
