Coming soon: 595 Vanderbilt — Brooklynian

Coming soon: 595 Vanderbilt

Any ideas what's going up?

This is right across the street from Hibiscus, RedLipstick, the bike shop, etc. and a few doors down from HouseBroken.

How long before people start referring to this stretch as "Lower Vanderbilt"?

It's going to be a wine shop.
  • why do all the useful things pop up on Vanderbilt.

I am going to go get a hair weave and eat some friend chicken on Washington Ave. Maybe even spluge on a votive candle in the process.

It looks like the place next to kinky krowns (washington and st. marks) is being renovated and includes a nice new storefront. Any ideas on what is going in there? Wasn't the owner of this space posting a while back looking for a tenant? Anyone know what's up?

    3 guesses:

    another beauty/nail salon
another medical related product (dentist, doctor, eyeglasses joint, etc)
    another broker
  • 4th guess:

    another party store

what gives on washington, eh? so much repetition.
  • I was the one who posted a while back for a possible tenant at 688. Found a tenant through DailyHeights, as a matter of fact:

    www.natural-heights.com

Not quite as good as a $.99 store. But under the circumstances, it'll do.

Looks great! When's the opening? Website says May so I guess there have been delays.
  • I think the web-launch is somewhat imminent, but the storefront will probably not open until late July
  • Looking forward to it. If you sell palm oil or soy wax candles, I'll buy lots of them. The palm oil tapers burn a very, very long time and I'm intrigued by the idea of soy wax, but apparently it only works in jars. Anyway, looking forward to the shop's opening. Good luck!
  • It (Natural Heights) is actually my wife's store. Damn programmer has run over schedule despite our prodding. We have a functional site up and running, but we're avoiding a launch until it's atheistically complete - my wife worked in market research for 13 years and firmly believes in the value of branding. She also knows the value of customer feedback, so please feel free to share your thoughts with her.

As Josh mentioned, expect a mid-to-late July opening. We'll have an ad up on the forums shortly.

Re: soy candles - boxes of them are taking up our closet space right now. We'll look into the palm oil tapers - thanks!

I was wondering if this was your wife's (soon to be) place!
  • Excellent. Thanks. I need them for when the website is atheistically complete so I can perform devil worship while browsing. :D (Yes, I know you meant "aesthetically," but anyone saying anything godless these days makes me smile.) Actually, I often use them for shabbat candles, so there you go.

    Sounds great!
  • What Vanderbilt really needs is some competition in the heating oil category.

    D'oh!
    steveo - that's why!

OK -- now I see. It's your godless website ;)

We believe in the separation of the church and organic shampoo.

Once the white folk move in, that block'll be nothing but Home Heating Oil stores.
  • Subject: Washington Ave Really Needs...

    Parking Garage
    Shipping Store or Postal Service
    Home Improvement / Fixtures Store
Pet Supply / Groomer / Boarding
    Art Supply / Curiosity Shop
    Eco-Friendly Dry Cleaner
Police Patrols... in fact it needs some law enforcement first because who the heck is going to frequent Washington Ave when your chances of being mugged or bitten by a rabid pit bull far out weighs your chances of buying a tasty salad dressing?
