the burger at beast is pretty outstanding. 1/2 pound and yummy. they dont' have fries but it comes with a little potato salad blue cheese side. and some good beers on tap. my personal fav is the leffe.
other than that nothing...but for the best burger in the borough, IMHO. bonnie's on 5th and 1st-ish in the slope. great fries, great chipotle mayo and lots of toppings.... slurp, gotta go, need meat now! -
you're a really great buger.
:P -
Tavern on Dean FOR SURE!!! Fat JUICY burger and AMAZING fries.
Soda Bar also has a pretty good burger and fries!
Bonnie's is great too (but in the Slope) and Dizzy's is also very good.
-
-
I second Tavern on Dean though I'll admit I haven't done much Burger sampling in this area.
-
hah.
fixed.
iron-deficiency-induced-typo. must have burger. -
oh c'mon, this one's easy ... SODA BAR!
-
If you want to stray into the slope....Bar Toto is soooo good...get the Toto burger......bleu cheese, fries onions in a pressed sandwich....yum!
-
i can't eat at soda...i've seen the kitchen. yikes!
-
i know the feeling. ultimately, i'm sure there are many kitchens I don't want to see. but *knowing* i shouldn't see it is very different than *actually* seeing it, eh? duly noted.

The PH lacks in the best burger category. You have to go to the Neptune Diner right off the Astoria Blvd N/W station in Queens. Now, that's good eats.
-
Beast and Tavern on Dean, both serve very, very excellent burgers. 8)

I haven't tried the burger at Beast yet, despite having been there several times. The burgers at Tavern on Dean are excellent, although not as good as the steak sandwich for pure beef satisfaction.

I know this is going out of the PH zone, but I've said for years and years that Grand Canyon makes the best burger in the city. You won't believe the options of stuff you can put on there.
-
Where would I find that?
-
Grand Canyon "Home of the 7oz. Burger" is at 179 7th Ave b/w 1st and 2nd. Be careful!!!

To me, the best Burger in the area is at Cocotte. It tastes like the meat is hand-chopped, it's so tender and juicy. A lot of times they'll have some sort of special toppings, like mushrooms satueed with cognac, or melty blue cheese. It is truly incredible.
We went to Beast to try their burger after the Chowhounds raved about it. I thought it was just okay, and I missed Cocotte's big pile of salty, crispy Fries. -
Yum ... and where is this mysterious Cocotte?
-
if you're looking for the best burger you should try a burger joint.
like bonnies...hands down the best! once in a while they bring in the kobe beef. yum.
beast is a tapas bar. the burger is pretty good...for a tapas bar.
you wouldn't go into a chinese restaurant and order fried chicken and expect it to be awesome. -
Yes, Beast is a tapas bar, HOWEVER, their burger is the juiciest, most flavorful one I've ever had. Anywhere. Try it if you don't believe me! 8)

she speaks the truth. i finally ate at beast for the first time last night and the burger was dee-lish! great flavor, clearly excellent quality beef and yummy bun. everything we ordered was quite amazing, actually. i'm excited to go back.

Cocotte is on 5th ave and 4th street (in the lovely CoFiFo neighborhood) - the secret is to go to cocotte's bar, which is up 4th Street a bit, where the burgers are a couple bucks cheaper and the ambience is slightly less hoity-toity... -
CoFiFo?

Yes Captain Marvelous, there's one on Montague at Henry St. I don't remember it being as good as the one on 7th Ave.
Ahhhh the promenade... quite a spot!
