Franklin Ave Kids Day on Sat July 23 — Brooklynian

Franklin Ave Kids Day on Sat July 23

Several people active on this message board will be attending it.

I hereby propose that people take lots of pictures of the event, and post them on this thread.

P.S. I have learned that Garnett and Kevin have raised almost $3500 for the day, enough $ to rent the rides and equipment for 6 hours.

  • whatever man, we all know that event is just a cover for a ring of vespa thieves.

    [/snark]

  • I hope they have a dunk tank.

  • We did have a dunk tank last year, hopefully we will again

    :)

At 10 AM, when the Kids Day starts, we will be filling the remaining planter boxes for Franklin Avenue,

We will be in front of the garden, please come out and help

We will also be collecting gently used toys and books to donate to the Haitian American Day Care Center.

  • If there is a dunk tank, I hereby officially volunteer to be in it.

I will wear a white t-shirt that says "Whynot_31" in black magic marker.

  • it's official

the activities will include: Dixie Twister, Tubs of Fun, Rock Climbing, World of Sports AND Dunk Tank

    All for FREE

  • I do not know what Dixie Twister or Tubs of Fun are.

  • Isn't Tubs of Fun what they show in the Cialis commercials? (i never did understand how they have fun in separate tubs)

  • What could be more wonderful than kids at play?

  • AWESOME!

  • in light of the heat, a decision was made to go with 4 water slides and one rock climbing wall.

Many, many wet children were produced.

  • I thought you said you were going to be in the dunk tank? I limbered up my arm and waited for hours. Did I miss you?

  • Kids were having too much fun dunking their relatives, so I did not feel they would have more fun dunking a stranger (i.e. yours truly).

Dude (my dog) and I were hanging out in the shade over by the garden, but I would have gotten off my butt had I known you had practiced.

We were there from 1:00 to around 3:00.

You can throw water at me at the next happy hour.

  • I had a wonderful time. A child's smile is worth every endeavor.

  • I look forward to next years. I think we should get tshirts printed up for the kids

  • Last year Kevin did that. He gave away free t-shirts; I still have mine. Time and circumstance didn't allow that this year, recession and all. Tell the hipsters to patronize the man and maybe it will happen again. The supplanted used to support, but free market rules and the whims of the New aren't like those of yore, unfortunately.

  • I regret not being able to control hipsters, but suspect the profits made from them spending their money locally allowed many of the sponsors to contribute to the fair.

  • Yes, Whynot I will gladly throw a glass of water on you next happy hour, especially if it is hot (the weather that is) No limbering up for that one. I didnt venture on the garden side, too much in the sun. But I did send some kids over to enjoy and next year will donate some monies for this wonderful event.

  • Here's what it looked like before it got busy:

    Two water slides

one bouncy house, one rock climbing wall. A third slide and the dunk tank are way in the back of this photo.
