what is the deal with this building? It is a wreck with shopping carts, trash and old newspapers piled up on the outside. This person could be a subject on the reality show Hoarders.

There was a post about this house this week on Brownstoner. Evidently, the home is owned by a man who may or may not live there. He had some sort of traumatic loss many years ago and it triggered the hoarding which has simply gotten worse with time. He also keeps cats, which hasn't helped the problem. It sounds like his neighbors may be gearing up to try and get him some help.

Yes I was thinking that if there were ever a fire or an emergency it would be a disaster. I am sure the neighbors are concerned/worried. I would be too if I lived on that block.
