Can anyone recommend a gastroenterologist (tummy doctor) in Park Slope or close by, who is affiliated with Methodist Hospital? Thanks.

  • Dr. David Byrnes. Sorry don't have the number handy but he is on 7th Ave around 6th Street. Associated with methodist and a good guy.

  • OK I am going to sounds picky now but I need a dr who sees patients after 5 PM. That is the challenging part. I called 499-CARE which is the Methodist Hosp doctor referral number and they tried to give me doctors who seemed to have later schedules but every one I called closes shop early. I need to work!! But I also need to see a specialist. Thanks for any info. I would like to see a doctor who listens to me and is not just all about tests if you know what I mean because I have been suffering a long time and feel I have not been taken seriously, like I am exaggerating about my symptoms. THose docs that have the "good reps" and are written up by NY Mag et al are just too busy to take the time. So right now I would just like a doc who LISTENS to me or at least pretends to. Thanks.

  • I second Dr. Byrnes (and I believe he works past 5:00 pm on at least one night)

  • Peanut is correct about Byrnes having at least one late night. I guess he might not be doing it in August. Rosita, this is a good doctor in all the ways that you say you would define one. It is a hardship to take time off of work to meet with doctors on their schedules but sometimes it is just necessary. At least consider this recommendation.

  • When I called yesterday the person who answers the phone said his last appt is at 5 PM. I will call back again and make sure. Thanks.

  • Rosita.. Take the last appointment available, take an hour off from work and make an appointment,

P.S. This is your mother speaking
