Traffic Barrels + Hurricane
Does anyone think the NYC Dept of Transportation will collect the hundreds of traffic barrels around Grand Army Plaza and Eastern Parkway before the arrival of Hurricane Irene? I understand the need for them right now but they're going to be all over the place after a hurricane rolls through. I'm just sayin'.

Nope.

The DOT had planned to grate and pave the stretch of EP between Washington and GAP this weekend in preparation for next week's parade.
...that isn't gonna happen either.

What about all the newspaper boxes everywhere. Will businesses bring them into their stores?
I was going to wait until Saturday's updates to see if I bring stuff in, but with the rain starting tonight, I think I'm just going to drag stuff in this afternoon while it's still dry just in case. Hopefully it will be for naught.

Newspaper boxes are usually chained to something to prevent theft.
If I was the Meier bldg, I'd secure those barrels. ....it is all glass.

I saw several today that didn't look chained to anything and I've noticed some around my area being rearranged a lot lately. Come on man, I need things to worry about!

My concern are the corner trashcans --- and the trash inside. Regardless of flooding, the streets are going to be covered in garbage and the cans could be throw anywhere...like into cars, etc...

I don't think the newspaper boxes in front of the library arechained down. There's your something to worry about.
I'm just going on record as saying I just discovered I have BBCAmerica and tomorrow's the season premiere of Doctor Who so if I lose cable in the hurricane, flying traffic cones will be the least of anyone's worries. -
^^ I LOL'D!!!
I'd be pissed too! -
Not to worry, Traffic Barrels usually self organize into Traffic Barrel Monsters during Hurricanes
