You can decide how city council discretionary money is spent! — Brooklynian

You can decide how city council discretionary money is spent!

For all of you who live either in the 36th or 45 council districts and who have been complaining about what government dollars are getting spent on, you finally have your chance to get involved.

Brad Lander and Jumanee Willams have both announced that they are taking part in an experiment of participatory budgeting in NYC. Participatory budgeting allows citizens to review projects that have requested discretionary funds and actually decide which projects will be funded. The process is slated to start this fall, so folks who are interested should reach out to the councilmen's offices to get details.
